Day 2: Style | March Meet The Maker 2021

Day 2: Style | March Meet The Maker 2021

Day 2: Style #MarchMeetTheMaker I think I tend to have two styles of soap: artistic and simplistic. I try to balance more efficiently produced soap with smaller batches of creative, intricate designs that are time vampires to create. And it seems to keep a variety of soap selections in the shop!

💫Over the years, my style (in soap and otherwise?) has become more subtle, deliberate, and practical than bright and over-the-top embellished. Though, I can still be dramatic. 😆

💫I want the ingredients to be the star but often add an eye-catching swirl or contrasting visual element. If I can make that design elegant, win! And since many ingredients like clays impart color and skin benefits, I like that they do double work.

💫I like trying all kinds of different designs and then figuring out what I can scale up and what will stay small-scale forever. I love the nuances of blending essential oils and more muted tones of natural colors. It sometimes seems like a limited color palette to work with, but it can still be bold and beautiful.

💫I don't always feel that my soap even has a particular style. One day though, after the many times it was suggested I create a separate line to have the unlimited creativity of all the bright colors and fragrances that it occurred to me—that just isn't for me! I find too many choices overwhelming, and as much as I love some fragrance oils, sadly, most give me a headache. Sometimes it helps to recognize what you don't want, to learn what you do. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I guess that's my style! ♥️
